The great performer, composer, pianist and jazz legend, the three-time Grammy winner and recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award, Ramsey Lewis, joined by  His Electric Bandunites with vocalist and guest percussionist Philip Bailey from Earth, Wind & Fire for an enticing evening of jazz and R&B classics that grew out of their legendary careers.

After his classic acoustic albums in the 1960s, change was in the air and enticed Ramsey Lewis toward the electric realm. With this new sound, he collaborated with the enigmatic and iconic, Earth, Wind & FireSun Goddess, the result of this creative summit, reached across the musical rainbow and became a huge cross-over hit, charting #1 on the Billboard Black Albums chart as well as the Jazz album chart and #12 in the Pop chart. The songs “Hot Dawgit” and “Sun Goddess” charted in the Black Singles, the Pop Singles, and the Disco singles charts. Sun Goddesshas since been certified gold.

Ramsey Lewis first captivated fans with his first album Ramsey Lewis and the Gentlemen of Swing by the Ramsey Lewis Trio. By 1965, he was one of the nation’s most successful jazz pianists, topping the charts with “The in Crowd,” “Hang On Sloopy” and “Wade In The Water.” He has three Grammy Awards and seven gold records to his credit.

Philip Bailey is an R&B, soul, gospel and funk singer, songwriter, percussionist and longtime member of Earth, Wind & Fire. Bailey has won sev­en Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also the Song­writers Hall of Fame.
